The 2.0 Version of an Ordinary Woman

Hello, this is Bianca Smith saying hi as the first month of 2025 is dawning on us. In this week’s episode of Successful Women in Business, we feature Sowmya Rajamani, the owner of the Digital Marketing Agency ____________, which is recognized as one of the Top Digital Marketing Agencies globally. She has been recently featured on Forbes Magazine as one of the richest self-made women.

The Humble Beginnings

Sowmya step foot into her remote working career when her kids began to go to school and she had some productive time to spare. She initially provided virtual assistance to small firms when she found her passion in digital marketing. She learnt the basics and implemented them in her firms. At one point of time, she hit a plateau and decided to scale up her life.

The Transformation

When you picture your dream life, how would you feel about it? Well, Sowmya felt excited on envisioning this and decided to take the first step. She joined a Digital Marketing Internship Program with Digital Deepak, her mentor, and embarked on the journey of the 1000 miles to turn her dream into an actionable plan. Confidently, she reprogrammed her mind for success. She started with a slow and steady pace to provide digital marketing freelancing services by choosing a niche, generating leads and closing a couple of deals.

2.0 Version

With a regular flow of clients in her pipeline, Sowmya decided to take her 6-figure income up further by forming the digital marketing agency _________________. And she couldn’t stop at that – she worked strategically to make it the top digital marketing agency in India and scaled it up further to expand into the global horizon. Sowmya now has 22 employees in her agency – all working remotely. She often travels to meet clients in different countries of the world and is also an advocate for women empowerment through learning. She firmly believes in the proverb, “Give a woman a fish and she eats for a day, teach her to fish and she eats her for a lifetime.” She sets aside time for bringing digital literacy to rural women in her country.

1. Create a vision for yourself – Allow yourself to dream and imagine the life you want
2. Take action on your vision – There will be growth pains as you start to work on it, but have the confidence to face each challenge as it comes up
3. Time Management – Outline your priorities and also set aside time for your family
4. Continuous learning – Read at least one book a week. Never stop learning!
5. Give back to the society which gave you everything.
