When you are looking to learn software development, which of these two learning methods would you prefer?
- Learn from online videos and tutorials
- Learn by working on building real projects in a real developer environment
You would obviously choose the second learning method, right?
Crio.Do, an Indian startup, was launched to empower developers with high quality applied learning opportunities and nurture the talent for future. This Bengaluru-based learning platform was founded in 2018 by Rathinamurthy R., former senior director of product management at Flipkart, and Sridher Jeyachandran, former Software Engineer/Product at Google.
Crio provides personalized experience for developers in learning the new skills. It uses ‘worklike’ micro modules to train developers rather than video tutorials. The developers will be encouraged to learn all software tech skills in an applied way. Along the journey, they get a sense of working in a real work environment. The mentors also lend a helping hand for pushing the projects forward. With this project-based learning approach and a verified project-portfolio that flaunts the multiple internship-grade projects worked on, the developers are assured of success in the real tech world. Some of Crio’s prominent customers include Flipkart, Visa, Rakuten, Reliance Jio and Capillary.
“There is an increasing need for qualified tech talent, which is a global problem as well as a huge market opportunity. Crio has an exceptional team and its approach towards solving this problem is unique and backed with practical insights and experiences.”
– Binny Bansal, Flipkart Co-founder and former CEO
Crio has raised $1 million in seed funding led by Binny Bansal, along with former Flipkart employee-turned entrepreneurs, known as the members of Flipkart Mafia.
The funding round also saw participation from Amod Malviya, Vaibhav Gupta and Sujeet Kumar, founders of B2B ecommerce platform Udaan; Mekin Maheshwari, Founder, Udhayam Learning, and Ravi Garikipati, former CTO, Flipkart.
The funds will be used by the startup for building its product and scaling its team as it plans to add more modules to serve a wider base of technology skills.
Crio’s goal is to make Learn by Doing the daily mantra and empower developers to become better learners for life.
